As you may or may not know - Terry McMillan walked away with the award for Outstanding Literary Work in Fiction. What you also may or may not be aware of is that in her acceptance speech she said that she was disappointed that her name was called and wished that voters would have chosen one of the other well-deserving nominees.
Cool, right?
I know the line is over-used and tilting towards lame - but really and truly, it was an honor just to have been nominated!
I didn't walk away with an award, but I did come back with a new perspective about this writing life.
